Track Meet Update at the Bernards High School.

On the evening of May 12th 2014, the Rotary Club of Bernardsville hosted their 64th Annual Track and Field Meet at the Bernards High School Field. Participants in the event included 7th and 8th grade track and field athletes from the schools of Bedminster, Bernards, Gill St. Bernards, Harding, Morris Plains, St. Elizabeth’s, St. Vincent DePaul, as well as Far Hills Country Day School and the Willow School.  Many personal records were achieved and the athletes enjoyed the camaraderie of the event.

The purpose of the event is to bring together students from local middle schools to compete in friendly rivalry while forging friendships. Community supporters included CapConnect Funding Group, Care 1st Training Group, Carpet Heritage, Flowers From Hanna, Gerald A. York Optician, Millington Savings Bank and the Somerset Hills YMCA.

Patrick York, Rotarian and event organizer commented, “A special thank you to all of the kids who participated this year. Many records were broken and many records remain. Thank you to the coaches, our sponsors, and everyone who helped make this event happen. The annual track meet is one of our flag ship events and has a rich tradition in our community. Our club began hosting the event in 1950 and one of our current club members, Al Olsen, has attended since 1966! We look forward to continuing this great tradition next year."
