Trees Toppling All Over Somerset County, Causing Road Closures Monday

Breaking: Damaging wind gusts continue to blow and topple trees across the county​ on Monday, causing road closures all over.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Damaging wind gusts continue to blow and topple trees across the county on Monday, causing road closures all over.

Local authorities are sending out alerts through Nixle alerting drivers to the downed trees and road closures.

  • Warren: Mount Horeb Road is closed between Round Top Road and Tulip Court.
  • Peapack & Gladston: Mendham Road between Mosle Road and St. Bernards Road is closed as well as Mendham Road at Jackson Avenue.
  • Montgomery: Grandview Road is closed between Pin Oak and Hollow Road. UPDATE: Grandview Road has reopened as of 3:30 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday for the following counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties, according to the National Weather Service.

A hazardous weather outlook is also in effect for the entire state, and flash flood watch is also in effect.

The NWS says the thunderstorms are expected to arrive Monday afternoon and evening and will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts.
