Trump's NJ Golf Club To Host New Saudi-Backed Tour Event
LIV Golf Invitational Series, a PGA Tour rival, will host one of the eight tour events at Donald Trump's golf club's Bedminster location.
BEDMINSTER, NJ — LIV Golf Invitational Series, a new super golf league that will rival against PGA, announced it will be coming to Trump's National Golf Club in Bedminster as part of its eight-event series.
Headed by Greg Norman, the series "will showcase an innovative new golf format starting in June 2022 featuring teams playing for more than $250 million in prize purses.
Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf Investments is providing more than $400 million in seed money to launch the series "which will be the building blocks of a next generation golf experience," according to LIV's news release.

The LIV Golf Invitational 2022 will kick off in June and run through October stopping at 8 locations:
- June 9 – 11: Centurion Golf Club – London
- July 1 – 3: Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club – Portland
- July 29 – 31: Trump National Golf Club Bedminster – New Jersey
- Sept 2 – 4: The International – Boston
- Sept 16 – 18: Rich Harvest Farms – Chicago
- Oct 7 – 9: Stonehill Golf Club – Bangkok
- Oct 14 – 16: Royal Greens Golf Club – Jeddah
- Oct 28 – 30: Team Championship
Each of the events will have three rounds with 54 holes and no cut, as well as shotgun starts to create a faster pace to the game. This will allow players to play head-to-head against their rivals throughout the year, according to LIV.

"I want golf to grow, players to have additional opportunities, and fans to have more fun. My mission is to help the game reach its full potential and we know the role of golf as an entertainment product is critical to overall participation in the sport," said Norman, CEO of LIV Golf Investments. "In many ways, we are a start-up. We have a long-term vision and aim to grow. I believe we have a very bright and exciting future."
In 2017, Trump's golf club off Lamington Road in Bedminster, Somerset County, had hosted the U.S. Women's Open. The club was set to host the PGA Championship 2022, however, that was terminated in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at Capitol Hill in Washington DC.
"The PGA of America Board of Directors voted tonight to exercise the right to terminate the agreement to play the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster," said Jim Richerson, president of the PGA of America. Read More: Trump National In Bedminster Loses PGA Golf Championship
The decision came days after five people were killed, including two police officers, when a mob of President Trump's supporters rioted at Capitol Hill.
