Two-Alarm Fire Causes Extensive Damage To Bernardsville Home
Bernardsville firefighters and police officers got to the home and confirmed an active fire on the first floor.
BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — A two-alarm fire ripped through a Bernardsville home on Thursday causing extensive damage.
On June 27 at around 2:30 p.m., the Bernardsville Police Department and Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1 & First Aid Squad were called to a home on Orchard Street for a report of smoke coming from the home.
Fire and police officers got to the home and confirmed an active fire on the first floor.

A first and then a second alarm was struck bringing mutual aid from other towns for help.
The fire was under control in 30 minutes.

"There was extensive damage to the first floor but through a quick and aggressive initial attack it was contained from spreading to the rest of the home," said the Bernardsville Fire Department.
The homeowner was not present when the fire started. The incident remains under investigation, said Bernardsville Police Captain Dan Buttel.
Emergency responders were on the scene for about 2 hours.
Along with Bernardsville, mutual aid partners included Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department, Basking Ridge Fire Co. No 1 & EMS, Liberty Corner Fire Company, Peapack Gladstone Fire Department, Lyons Fire Department, Chester Volunteer Fire Company, Chester, NJ, Atlantic Health ambulance, and Bernardsville Police Department.
