Two Basking Ridge Girl Scouts Honored With Highest Award
Emily Wheatley and Donna Andres earned the Girl Scout Gold Award for their charitable work.

Emily Wheatley and Donna Andres, both juniors at Ridge High School and members of Troop 19 in Basking Ridge, were awarded their Girl Scout Gold Awards on June 6. The Gold Award is the highest scouting award achieved by girls.
Emily collected over 500 used cell phones to benefit members of the military currently serving overseas. The phones are recycled and a one hour calling card is donated to a soldier. The project earned 31,200 minutes for soldiers and their families.
Donna organized food drives to help women and children who are displaced from their homes and are victims of domestic abuse. She collected $1,095.00 in grocery gift cards and nearly a half ton of food. Everything was donated to "The Resource Center of Somerset," formerly known as Safe Horizons.
