Unlocked Car With Keys Inside Stolen In Peapack-Gladstone

PEAPACK/GLADSTONE, NJ — Police are warning residents after thieves stole an unlocked car in Peapack and Gladstone on Sunday night.

On July 16 at 11:30 p.m., a resident of Sheephill Drive saw a dark-colored sedan enter the cul-de-sac where three black men exited the vehicle, said police.

The resident then saw the men walking toward his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway. The suspects then entered the vehicle and drove off, said police.

The resident reported that the vehicle, 2020 white Audi Q7, was left unlocked with the key fob inside.

The vehicle was later tracked to Newark via "on-star". The vehicle was recovered by the Union Township Police Department; however, one license plate was removed by the suspects, said police.

"The Peapack & Gladstone Police would like to remind all citizens to lock their car doors when at home and to remove the keys from their vehicles. Valuables should also be taken inside and not left in plain view," said police. "The Peapack & Gladstone Police are committed to public safety and ready to respond to all incidents. Please help us help you by reporting any suspicious activity immediately."
