Virtual Autism Parent/Teacher Workshop Offered By Bernards Township Library

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township Library will be hosting a virtual Parent/Teacher Workshop - Autism and Communication Differences - on Thursday, April 3 from 7 to 8 p.m. on Zoom.
This engaging and informative seminar will provide practical strategies for parents, caregivers, and educators, is regards to autism and communication differences. Learn about neurodiversity-affirming approaches that move beyond a "fix" or "cure" mindset, embracing the strengths and challenges of autistic individuals while acknowledging the realities of disability.
With autism affecting 1 in 35 children in New Jersey, understanding and supporting communication differences is more important than ever. Participants will gain valuable insights into fostering meaningful interactions, advocating for inclusive practices, and creating supportive environments that respect and empower autistic individuals.

Presenter Lisa Giuffre, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a NJ-licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist located in Essex County.

She currently works in schools with students on the autism spectrum and has experience working with children ages 2 through 22. Special areas of interest include early language development, fluency disorders, and articulation disorders.
