Volunteers Needed for Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse
Members may be someone who works, lives, and worships in Bernards Township.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Do you want to make a difference in your community? The Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse is looking for hardworking and dedicated members for 2017 and beyond.
They are in need of Citizen Representatives, a School Representative, a Bernards Township Parent Teacher Organization Representative, and a representative of the clergy.
Members may be someone who works, lives, and worships in Bernards Township.

Volunteers are currently needed to represent the Citizens, School, Clergy, and the Parent Teacher Organizations.
Responsibilities include:

- Attending monthly evening meetings
- Assisting with the Municipal Alliance booth for events such as the Teen Volunteer Fair, Ridge High School football game, and Charter Day
- Helping fundraise money and get sponsors for the annual Twilight Challenge 5K and health walk.
The Bernards Township Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse, or "Alliance" was founded in 1991, and is a mayoral-appointed volunteer-based coalition of local parents, youth, health professionals, social service workers, law enforcement, school personnel, clergy, and other concerned leaders who support tobacco, alcohol, and drug prevention efforts in the community.
The goals of the Alliance are three-fold:
- To educate about the damaging and addictive effects of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs
- To support events and programs, which provide healthy alternatives
- To create a community-wide presence in the identification of problems and in designing solutions.
