“Our boards and commissions are designed to give citizens a voice in their government and allow them to influence decisions that shape the quality of life for residents of Somerset County,” said Freeholder Director Robinson. “Volunteering to serve is a great way to share your expertise and contribute to your community.”

The Board of Chosen Freeholders make appointments to over 30 boards and commissions that deal with a variety of public policy matters. Examples include the Office on Aging and Disability Services Advisory Council, Agricultural Development Board, HOME Program Committee, Homelessness Trust Fund and the Local Advisory Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.

People who serve on boards or commissions do more than attend regular meetings. The county seeks individuals who have subject-matter expertise and who are willing to devote their time and energy to serving. Time commitments vary depending on the specific function of a board or commission, and the way in which they operate.

“We welcome your participation in this process, and look forward to reviewing your resume,” said Freeholder Director Robinson.
