BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A vital training session for anyone working with teens is being offered in Basking Ridge.
Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church's Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries Cathi Reckenbeil is co-leading a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training on Saturday, Feb. 29.
"Youth Mental Health is so important, and learning how to become a first responder is vital for most everyone. It would be helpful for anyone who meets with youth: parents, teachers, custodians, bus drivers, coaches, scout leaders, grandparents, neighbors, etc." Reckenbeil said.

The training will teach participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders in your community, while also discussing how to be nonjudgmental, compassionate and a great listener.
"I have personally used the information taught to help youth several times," Reckenbeil said. "I began my career as a school teacher but have worked for the past 24 years as a youth director in three different churches. In all these settings, caring for the well-being of each youth has been of utmost importance."
