2 Car Crashes On Same Day In Nutley: DWI, Student Driver Hits Sign

Two car crashes were reported on the same day in Nutley, one involving a DWI arrest and another involving a student driver, police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Two car crashes were recently reported on the same day in Nutley, one involving a DWI arrest and another involving a student driver, authorities said.

The Nutley Police Department released the following details about the crashes, which both took place on July 15:

DWI CHARGE – Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in which a pickup truck crashed into security barriers placed in front of Rita’s Ice. The driver of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and was arrested on scene. A 40-year-old Nutley resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

STUDENT DRIVER – A driving instructor told police that one of his students accidently hit the gas instead of the brake, colliding with a sign at Passaic and Conover. Police checked with the parents of the juvenile; no injuries were reported.
