2 Car Thefts, 1 Attempted Theft In Nutley: Police

A car was stolen from a Nutley driveway. Shattered glass was found at the scene of another vehicle theft, police said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Two car thefts and an attempted theft were recently reported in Nutley, authorities say.

The Nutley Police Department released the following details about three incidents that took place in the township:

June 15 (Mapes Avenue) – Officers responded to Mapes Avenue after getting a report about an attempted motor vehicle theft. The caller stated two men were observed pulling on the vehicle’s door handle before realizing it was locked. The caller said there was no damage to the vehicle and the suspects did not gain entry.

June 16 (Park Avenue) – Officers responded to Park Avenue after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. The owner said they parked their vehicle, and when they returned the next morning, they saw it was gone. Shattered glass was found on the ground.

June 21 (Crestwood Avenue) – Officers responded to Crestwood Avenue after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. The owner said their vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time. Security video footage shows a man exit a blue SUV, enter their vehicle and flee the scene.
