2 Nutley Students Awarded Spencer Savings Bank Scholarships

The bank gave out $30,000 recently to students across six New Jersey counties, including two from Nutley schools.

NUTLEY, NJ — Two students from Nutley have a piece of the pie from Spencer Savings Bank's most recent round of scholarship awards.

School guidance counselors chose the winners, according to a news release from the bank.

Spencer Savings Bank gave out $30,000 to students from various school districts in Bergen, Passaic, Union, Mercer, Morris, and Essex counties.

Kristen Agudelo of Nutley High School and Biyanka Matias of Nutley John H. Walker Middle School won scholarships, the bank said.

“We are very proud to continue our annual scholarship program that has helped so many graduating students in New Jersey,” said Jose B. Guerrero, Spencer’s Chairman and CEO, in a news release. “Spencer is committed to enriching the lives of our community members, including supporting our youth and all their educational goals and career pursuits. We are counting on them to build a bright and prosperous future for our New Jersey communities. Congratulations on all your well-deserved success!”

The bank says it has awarded almost $600,000 in scholarships to local students since 2002.
