Murder-Suicide Behind Jersey City School, 2 Dead: Officials
A man and a woman were found dead behind Hudson County Prep High School in Jersey City.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Two people were fatally shot in a murder-suicide early Thursday on a sidewalk behind a New Jersey school, officials said.
Sources told nj.com that a gun was found near the two bodies in Jersey City. Neighbors and friends of the victims told News12 that the couple were a man and woman who have a young child.
“This is a tragedy right here, and for this to happen, I don't know what was going through their minds — both of them. I don't know what was going on for this to happen. It's a tragedy,” one man said to News12.

The man and woman, who were not identified, were found dead on Bright Street behind Hudson County Prep High School in Jersey City, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office told nj.com.
By 6 a.m., police had already left the scene across the street from the Booker T. Washington housing complex, behind a few strands of crime scene tape, authorities told the publication. Many were searching for answers about what happened.

One man who works at the school, who asked not to be identified, told nj.com he couldn't believe what happened just feet away from County Prep. "Even during the day it's usually pretty quiet," he said.
