3 Suspects Try To Break Into Nutley Home, Set Off Car Chase: Police

The alleged drop-off vehicle took off when spotted by the cops – leaving the three suspects behind, authorities said.

NUTLEY, NJ — Three young men tried to break into a Nutley home on New Year’s Day, setting off a police car chase, authorities say.

According to the Nutley Police Department, the suspects tried to enter a home on Cook Road during the early morning hours on Jan. 1.

A police sergeant encountered the alleged drop-off vehicle on Cook Road while responding to the incident. The vehicle took off on Plymouth Road toward Bloomfield Avenue – leaving the three suspects behind, authorities said.

Police pursued the vehicle and launched an “extensive search” with an Essex County Sherriff’s K-9 unit on foot, but weren’t able to apprehend any of the suspects, authorities said.

The three suspects were described as young males. They were wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts, face coverings and gloves, police said.
