6 Nutley Drivers Report Slashed Tires: Yale, East Centre, Hancox
Half a dozen Nutley car owners reported slashed tires during a 48-hour period, police say.

NUTLEY, NJ — Nutley police are looking into a series of tire slashings that took place on several streets in the township last week. According to the Nutley Police Department, residents recently reported the following incidents:
- 4/17/17 (Yale Street) – Officers responded to the area on a report of criminal mischief. The victim stated that when they went out to their vehicle they observed three of their tires were slashed. There were slash marks on both front tires and on the back, passenger side tire. An estimate of the damage was approximately $600. Police are investigating the incident; no further action was taken.
- 4/17/17 (Yale Street) - While responding to a report of criminal mischief on Yale Street, officers observed another vehicle with a slashed tire. The slash mark was on the front driver’s side of the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle was found and advised of the incident. The approximate damage was estimated at $200. Police are investigating the incident; no further action was taken.
- 4/17/17 (Yale Street) - Officers responded to the area regarding a report of criminal mischief. The victim stated that they went out to their vehicle and found that both rear tires had been slashed. The approximate value to replace both tires is estimated at $400. The area was canvassed for surveillance cameras with negative results.
- 4/17/17 (East Centre Street) – Officers responded to the area regarding a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival, the victim stated that when they went out to their car they observed both passenger side tires were punctured and flat. Officers observed slash/puncture marks on both tire side walls. The tires are valued at approximately $1,000 each. Investigators are reviewing surveillance coverage of the incident; the Detective Bureau is following up with an investigation.
- 4/17/17 (East Centre Street) – Officers responded to the area regarding criminal mischief to auto. The victim stated that when they went out to their vehicle they observed two tires had been slashed. Police are reviewing video surveillance of an actor slashing the tires. The car had been towed from the area to be repaired. The Detective Bureau was notified and will be following up.
- 4/18/17 (Hancox Avenue) – The victim of criminal mischief responded to police headquarters to file a report. A tire was found slashed on the vehicle parked in their driveway. The vehicle is seldom used, so the exact date/time of the incident is not known. The victim was advised to contact headquarters if they notice any other activity.
