Allegedly 'Tipsy' Man Reports Robbery To Nutley Police

A man reported a robbery on Kingsland Avenue, Nutley police say.

During what Nutley police described as a “suspicious incident,” a possibly intoxicated man reported that he was the victim of a robbery on Kingsland Avenue on Oct. 17.

According to police, the alleged victim told police that as he exited a bus, a male in his 20s pointed a black handgun at him and told him to get on the ground.

The alleged victim then gave his assailant a $100 bill, he told police.

At that time, a silver Toyota Camry pulled up, the man got into the front passenger seat and the car fled the scene, the alleged victim reported.

However, police noted that the alleged victim’s story seemed to contradict earlier statements that he had made. When officers asked the alleged victim for his name and identification, he reportedly became agitated and reluctant to cooperate.
