BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville has opened applications for the township Senior Advisory Board.
The board is charged with “gathering, evaluating, coordinating and disseminating information of interest and assistance to the town’s senior citizens.” Its members serve as an advisory committee to the town’s recreation director on questions of programs and activities beneficial to senior citizens of the township.
According to the application form for the position, board members must be Belleville residents over 55-years-old. They serve without compensation.
The board consists of seven members, two of which include the mayor (or designee) and a council member liaison. The remaining five members are appointed by the municipal council.
Here’s what to know if you plan to apply, the township advisory states:
“All applications must be submitted by June 1 to the township Manager's Office at Town Hall (973-450-3324). Applications will be reviewed, and appointments will be made effective July 1. Please note that this is a three-year term.”
“We encourage all interested individuals aged 55 and over to apply and take part in supporting our senior community,” the advisory says.
