The Phoenix Center of Nutley, NJ, hosted an Alumni Night at Shannon Rose in Clifton, NJ. The evening brought together seven alumni from 2015 to the present and staff including Phoenix Center's Coordinator of Family Events, Ashley Agresti. The reunion was a structured, yet relaxed dinner designed to strengthen social skills, foster independence, and maintain meaningful connections beyond the classroom for former students of The Phoenix Center, a school for students with autism and other disabilities.
This event is part of The Phoenix Center’s Graduate Support Program, which helps young adults and their families navigate the complex transition to adult life following graduation. The alumni practice real-world social and communication skills in a community setting with Phoenix Center staff. The night reflects a growing emphasis on post-graduation services: supporting social-emotional growth, interpersonal skills, and confidence outside of school hours.” Programs like this demonstrate how schools can remain active partners in students’ long-term success, from exit planning and guardianship workshops to ongoing alumni engagement,” noted Agresti.
