NUTLEY, NJ — The Greater Nutley Cancer Foundation hosted its first Water Lantern Festival last weekend at Memorial Park, giving the community a chance to honor, remember and celebrate their loved ones.
During Sunday’s event at the Mudhole, attendees released lanterns on the water in tribute to cancer survivors, those currently battling the disease, and loved ones lost.
Water lanterns were purchased at the event, with all proceeds going to benefit the foundation.
Commissioner Mauro Tucci spoke on behalf of the local nonprofit, which provides financial assistance to cancer survivors and families that have lost a loved one to cancer. Learn more here.
Tucci praised the nonprofit’s board and volunteers, saying that they “do it all from the bottom of their hearts.”
“Their efforts are just phenomenal, and they just keep getting better and better every day,” Tucci said.
