Mayor John Kelly III and the Nutley Cultural Inclusion and Diversity Council invite residents and visitors to attend Nutley's annual Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 19 at 4 p.m. at The Oakley Kitchen & Cocktails, 789 Bloomfield Avenue.
Following the tremendous success of last year's event, this year's celebration will once again bring the community together under the theme, "Honoring Our Past, Inspiring Our Future."
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom. Today, Juneteenth serves as a powerful reminder of resilience, perseverance, and the continued pursuit of freedom, unity, and opportunity for all.
Guests will enjoy an evening of live music by The First Call Band, extended happy hour pricing, Juneteenth signature cocktails, delicious desserts, barbecue menu specials, and complimentary tastings.
Residents, families, and visitors from neighboring communities are encouraged to attend this free community event and join in an evening of fellowship, reflection, and celebration.
