BELLEVILLE, NJ — A Belleville cop’s “composure and compassion” during a life-threatening vehicle crash helped to earn her a nod as the police department’s latest Officer of the Month.
The Belleville Police Department recently recognized Linda Tran as its Officer of the Month for June 2026.
Here’s what earned Tran a nod from her peers at the BPD:
“During the month of June, Officer Tran responded to a serious motor vehicle crash involving two motorized scooters and a passenger vehicle. Upon arrival, she immediately rendered aid to the injured scooter operators, including one victim who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Demonstrating exceptional composure, compassion, and professionalism, Officer Tran remained by the victim’s side, ensuring they received immediate medical attention before accompanying them to the hospital. She remained there to assist hospital staff and provide critical information regarding the incident and the victim’s injuries.”
Throughout the month of June, Tran also conducted more than 50 directed patrols – issuing over 20 motor vehicle summonses – and assisting in four arrests involving domestic violence, aggravated assault, DUI and package theft investigations, the BPD said.
“Officer Tran’s dedication, quick thinking, and unwavering commitment to serving others exemplify the highest standards of the Belleville Police Department,” authorities said. “Her actions during this critical incident undoubtedly made a lasting difference in the victim’s outcome and reflect great credit upon herself and this agency.”
