NUTLEY, NJ — The following news release comes courtesy of a Patch Belleville-Nutley community member. Find out how to post announcements or events to your local Patch site.
Thomas Greco Publishing, Inc. is now accepting applications for its internship program, which gives Nutley High School students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public relations, social media, and publishing while earning an hourly wage.
Established in 2022, the program hires a group of student interns each year to cover Township of Nutley events, assist with social media content, and provide occasional editorial department support. Interns gain real-world experience by attending local events, capturing and sharing timely information, while helping to connect residents with the activities, programs, and initiatives taking place throughout the community.
"Providing young people with meaningful, paid work experience is an investment in both their future and the future of our community," says Thomas Greco, president of Thomas Greco Publishing. "This program gives students an opportunity to develop valuable communications skills, take on real responsibilities, and see firsthand how public relations and social media help tell the story of Nutley."
The paid positions offer students practical exposure to public relations and communications work while helping them build professional skills in writing, social media, event coverage, organization, and community engagement.
"Interning at TGP not only provided invaluable hands-on experience but ultimately propelled my marketing career," states Kaitlyn Gavidia, a Nutley High graduate now working at NBCUniversal. "I was able to actively support multiple different projects both from a Nutley PR standpoint as well as getting to write for TGP's publications. Having this experience was integral in providing me the necessary tools to get me where I am now!"
Applicants must be current Nutley High School students and must have reliable transportation or another dependable way to travel throughout town. Because many Township events take place outside regular school hours, interns must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
"Working at TGP was a really good learning experience for me," adds Karen Fukuoka-Schreiber (a 2026 NHS graduate headed to USC in the fall). "I learned a lot through hands-on work, and even the mistakes I made were improved through helpful guidance and communication. I really enjoyed the positive work environment and the connections I made with everyone. It truly felt amazing seeing the community come together at these events. A truly one-of-a-kind experience!"
Internship applications must be submitted by September 10. Interested Nutley High School students should contact thomas@grecopublishing.com for application information.
"Interning at TGP has been a rewarding and wonderful learning experience," 2025 NHS graduate and current Rutgers student Sofia EsHaq states. "As a new intern, Tom introduced my peers and I to the world of digital PR through gathering content to share on social media. I got to interact with the local community more than I normally would, and got creative when getting certain shots and using them to make intriguing social media content. The team at TGP is very welcoming and supportive, making it easy to learn and grow in your role."
