NUTLEY, NJ — Several car-related crimes were reported on the same day in Nutley last week, including multiple thefts of tools and stolen license plates.
The Nutley Police Department released the following details about the incidents, which were reported on Aug. 31:
Theft from Vehicle (Bloomfield Avenue) – "Officers responded to Bloomfield Avenue on a report of multiple thefts from vehicles. A victim stated at an upper field, from Saturday to Monday, multiple trucks had tools taken from them which consist of drills, saws, batteries and generators. The area was canvased and the detective bureau was notified of the incident."
Theft (East Centre Street) – "A resident responded to headquarters on a report of a stolen license plate. The resident stated upon returning to their vehicle in the morning, they observed that their front license plate was taken off. The resident stated they observed that the screws were also taken. Officers advised the resident to surrender the other license plate and to obtain new license plate due to their registration now being entered as stolen. The detective bureau was notified of the incident."
Theft (East Centre Street) – "Officers responded to East Centre Street on a follow-up investigation with a resident whose front license plate was stolen. Upon speaking with the resident, they informed officers that their neighbor's front license plate was also missing. The neighbor stated their vehicle was parked two spaces away from the resident's vehicle but did not realize that their front license plate was missing until it was brought to their attention. Officers advised the neighbor to surrender the other license plate and to obtain new license plate due to their registration now being entered as stolen. The detective bureau was notified of the incident."
