Authorities Respond To 'Suspicious' Backpack Found In Nutley Park: No Threat Found

A caller reported finding a suspicious backpack leaning against a bridge in Nutley.

Nutley, NJ – Authorities responded to a report of a suspicious backpack found in a Nutley park on Christmas Eve, but found no threat, Nutley police stated.

According to the Nutley Police Department, a caller reported finding a suspicious backpack leaning against a bridge near Kingsland Park on Kingsland Avenue.

Emergency responders including the Nutley Fire Department and the Essex Sherriff K-9 and Bomb Squad later determined that the bag was not a threat, police stated.

The bag was returned to its owner, a Clifton resident, who had reportedly lost it a few days earlier, police added.
