BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville's 2020 municipal election results have been certified and four candidates have emerged victorious for a town council seat: Marie Strumolo Burke, Steven Rovell, Vincent Cozzarelli and John Notari.

Belleville's election was held via mail this year due to the coronavirus crisis. Ballots needed to be postmarked by May 12. There were no in-person polling places.

On May 18, Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin confirmed that the results posted on the county website have been certified.

  • Marie Strumolo Burke - 657 (55.68%)
  • Carmine A. Mattia - 522 (44.24%)

2ND WARD (vote for 1)

1 of 1 districts reported:

  • Frank Velez - 453 (31.86%)
  • Steven J. Rovell - 961 (67.58%)

3RD WARD (vote for 1)

1 of 1 districts reported:

  • Vincent Cozzarelli - 512 (96.24%)
  • Write In - 20 (3.76%)

4TH WARD (vote for 1)

1 of 1 districts reported:

  • John J. Notari - 595 (71.6%)
  • Miosotty Martinez - 227 (27.32%)
