Belleville Burglar Swipes Gun, Jewelry on Hewitt Street: Police

A burglar allegedly stole a handgun, jewelry and clothes from a home on Hewitt Street last month, Belleville police say.

Belleville, NJ – A burglar allegedly stole a handgun, jewelry and clothes from a home on Hewitt Street last month, police say.

According to the Belleville Police Department, a homeowner reported that when he arrived home on May 21 around 1 p.m., he discovered that his front door was kicked in and the inside of his house was ransacked.

The victim told police that missing items included a Glock handgun, jewelry and clothing.

The victim reported seeing a suspect in the area prior to the burglary and described him as a white male about 40-years-old, around 6 feet and 170 pounds with blonde hair, and wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt.
