Belleville Car Stripped Of Steering Wheel, Other Parts On Mill Street: Police

The victim reportedly told Belleville police that when he returned to his car, he saw that several essential parts were gone.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A Belleville motorist reported that his car was stripped of its steering wheel and other essential parts as it sat overnight on Mill Street last month, police say.

According to the Belleville Police Department, the victim told officers that he parked his 1997 Honda Civic on Mill Street between 2 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 23. The victim told police that when he returned to his car, he saw that the rear trunk hatch, instrument cluster and steering wheel were removed.

Police said that the estimated value of the stolen parts was around $1,700.
