Belleville Celebrates 2024 MLK Day: Flag Raising, Call To Service

Belleville residents are being asked to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with an "act of kindness" for 2024.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville residents can celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. with an “act of kindness” for 2024.

A flag raising ceremony and call to service will take place at noon on Monday, Jan. 15 at Belleville Town Hall.

“Let’s celebrate Dr. King’s life through an act of kindness,” organizers wrote.

People are being to perform deeds including:

  • Donate nonperishable food to a Belleville food bank
  • Write a letter of appreciation to a teacher or first responder
  • Call or visit a senior citizen

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Belleville Town Hall will be closed on Monday Jan. 15. Regular garbage pick-up is in place, officials said.
