Belleville Community Helps Nab Alleged Home Burglar: Police

Authorities have credited the recent Belleville police arrest of a suspected burglar in the township to "community awareness."

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Authorities have credited the recent Belleville police arrest of a suspected burglar in the township to “community awareness.”

According to the Belleville Police Department, officers charged a 27-year-old Newark man with residential burglary and theft after arresting him on Tuesday on Frederick Street.

“What makes this arrest notable is the community awareness that led to the apprehension of this burglar,” Belleville police stated. “Three area residents saw suspicious activity because they know their neighbors and knew the resident of the home was not present. The neighbors contacted police and later positively identified the suspect.”
