Belleville Considers Redevelopment On Washington, Valley

A study will determine if several properties are eligible to be declared a "non-condemnation area in need of redevelopment."

BELLEVILLE, NJ — The Belleville Town Council passed a resolution this week that authorizes the planning board to investigate if a group of properties on Washington Avenue and Valley Street are eligible to be declared a “non-condemnation area in need of redevelopment.”

The cited properties include 272 Washington Avenue, 274-278 Washington Avenue and 163 Valley Street. The preliminary investigation will be designed to evaluate and study the properties to determine if designation as a non-condemnation redevelopment area is appropriate and conforms to New Jersey statutes.

The council approved the resolution in a narrow vote during their meeting on Tuesday (watch the video below).
