Belleville Cop Finds U.S. Flag On Ground; Watch What He Does Next

"If no one was watching, are you the type to still do a good deed?"

BELLEVILLE, NJ — He stopped to pick up a flag. And in doing so, he also lifted the spirits of the Belleville community.

In a recent good deed caught on video, a Belleville police officer can be seen stopping his patrol car when he comes across a U.S. flag lying on the ground. He then takes the time to get out, pick up the flag and stand it upright before continuing on his way.

When the Belleville Police Department saw the video posted to social media, they offered a message of thanks:

“Today we learned of a video on social media that makes this department proud. One of our officers while on patrol noticed an American flag laying on the ground. The officer stopped his patrol car picked up the flag and stood it upright. We would never have known about this until we saw the video. It’s these small acts of kindness that makes Belleville a community filled with respect and pride. Thank you to the owner of the video for sharing a positive story.”

Belleville Mayor Michael Melham also offered a shout-out to the officer on social media.

“If no one was watching, are you the type to still do a good deed?” Melham questioned. “Well done, officer.”
