Belleville Cops Catch Suspected Burglar With Cash, Change Purse
Belleville police arrested a local man after allegedly catching him with cash and items stolen from several vehicles on Holmes Street.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville police arrested a local man after allegedly catching him with cash and items stolen from several vehicles on Holmes Street last month, authorities say.
According to the Belleville Police Department, officers reported to a Holmes Street residence around 5:44 a.m. on Aug. 21 on a report of a male in the driveway attempting to open the owner’s car door. On arrival, officers found a suspect fitting the description in front of the house.
Police stated that the suspect – later identified as Nijeer Blount, 21, of Belleville – was found to be in possession of $127 in cash, a red change purse and “numerous other items that were taken from motor vehicles in the area,” in addition to an unspecified amount of marijuana.

Authorities arrested Blount and charged him with burglary and possession of marijuana. He was held on $5,000 bail.
