Belleville Cops Find Alleged Home Burglar Hiding In Basement
He was hiding under a pile of debris in the basement, Belleville police said.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville police arriving on the scene of an alleged home burglary earlier this month found the suspect hiding under a pile of debris in the basement, authorities said.
According to the Belleville Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress on Van Rennsselaer Street around noon on Aug. 16. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found the front door of the home open and a broken basement window.
When police checked the interior of the home, they found a man hiding under a pile of debris in the basement, authorities said.

The man – later identified as Angel Gonzalez, 36, of Newark – allegedly saw the officers and tried to flee out the broken basement window. He was apprehended at the scene, police said.
Authorities charged Gonzalez with burglary and transported him to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
