Belleville Father Charged With Shooting Son: Police

The 56-year-old father was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a report says.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville police have charged a local father with shooting his 23-year-old son in their Mallone Avenue home on Sunday night, a report says.

Belleville police told NJ.com that officers arrested Robert M. Jones, 56, and charged him with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the alleged shooting of his son.

Following the incident, the victim made his way to a neighbor’s house and contacted police, NJ.com reported. He was hospitalized but in stable condition as of Monday, the report stated.
