Belleville To Flush Hydrants: Discolored Water, Pressure Drop Possible
Belleville will be flushing fire hydrants this week, and it may result in discolored water or pressure drops for some residents.
BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville will be flushing fire hydrants this week, and it may result in discolored water or pressure drops for some residents, officials say.
The township issued an advisory about the plan on Sunday, noting that flushing will take place from 9 p.m. to midnight between March 18 and March 24. Residents in the following areas may experience discolored water and/or low water pressure:
- Newark Avenue to Mill Street
- Franklin Avenue to the Bloomfield border
Other Belleville residents have had their own experiences with discolored water and pressure drops this spring. The township saw back-to-back water main breaks earlier this month. Meanwhile, an effort to tie into a new water main and hydrant flushing in Newark – which supplies water to Belleville – has also caused issues for local residents.
