Services Offered: Consisting of seven divisions, the Belleville Health Department provides a wide range of services to its community members. The environmental division is responsible for responding to environmental and public health complaints as well as conducting various inspections, including, but not limited to, retail food establishment inspections, lead inspections, youth camp inspections and property maintenance and garbage inspections. In addition, this division is responsible for all animal quarantines and providing free rabies immunization for cats and dogs. To get you cat or dog licensed, contact animal licensing.

The nursing division handles all health screenings and vaccinations. The nursing staff provides seasonal and H1N1 flu shots, hepatitis B vaccinations for all township employees, school vaccinations and free women's and men's health screenings. Residents can find all immunization and disease records here--the department investigates and keeps records of all communicable diseases within the township and also maintains the New Jersey Immunizations System, which keeps track of immunizations given to children and adults. In addition, this department provides free immunizations for children from infancy to age 18. This division can also assist those residents who need to see a specialist or visit other social service agencies--they provide referrals. In addition, they offer assistance with elderly home care and visiting nurse services.
