Belleville Historical Society Honors Vets With 170 Xmas Wreaths

170 holiday wreaths were set in Belleville's three cemeteries, as well as Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield and other N.J. sites.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — The Belleville Historical Society recently closed out 2018 with their heartfelt “Veteran Christmas Wreath Project,” which honored scores of local military veterans this year.

According to a news release from the society, in remembrance of soldiers from the American Revolution to Vietnam, 170 wreaths were set this year. The memorial effort included soldiers and veterans buried in Belleville's three cemeteries, as well as the veteran section of Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield and historic burial sites in Hudson, Passaic, Union, Bergen and Morris counties.

Those remembered included two Revolutionary War generals and five soldiers awarded the Medal of Honor.
