Belleville Home Burglarized, $1500 In Jewelry Stolen: Police

Burglars allegedly made off with $1,500 in jewelry after breaking into a Belmont Avenue home, Belleville police say.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville police say that a suspect allegedly absconded with $1,500 in jewelry after breaking into a Belmont Avenue home earlier this month.

According to the Belleville Police Department, the homeowner told officers that he and his wife returned home from work on the afternoon of Jan. 16 to find their home burglarized and their bedroom ransacked. The victim told officers that someone apparently pushed in the air conditioner in their bedroom to gain access to the home.

The incident took place between 8:30 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. while the homeowner and his wife were at work, police said.

About $1,500 in jewelry was stolen, the victim said.

Belleville police are conducting an investigation.
