Belleville Homeowner Confronts Intruder On Cuozzo Street: Police
A Belleville homeowner confronted an intruder after finding the man in his home, causing him to flee the scene, police said.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A Belleville homeowner confronted an intruder after finding the man in his home earlier this week, causing him to flee the scene, police said.
According to the Belleville Police Department, a resident of Cuozzo Street found an unknown man inside his home during the evening hours of April 24. When the homeowner confronted the man, he fled the scene “without taking anything,” authorities said.
The intruder entered the home through an unlocked front door, police said.

Belleville authorities released a NJ State Police sketch of the alleged intruder based on the victim’s description. (See below) Police said that the intruder was described as a Hispanic male with a slight accent in his late 40’s, with a thin build, facial hair and “salt and pepper” short hair. He was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt, a green backpack and dark pants.

“As a reminder with the warmer weather approaching it’s a good idea to always make sure doors and windows are secured before going to bed,” Belleville police stated.
