BELLEVILLE, NJ — Patients recovering from surgery or needing additional treatment at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville will have a “state-of-the-art” place to continue recovery: the hospital’s new Adult Observation and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.

Hospital staff and administrators recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new unit.

According to administrators, the new Adult Observation Unit will serve patients that are not well enough to return home and who require further diagnostic testing, treatment and care. The Adult Observation Unit has been outfitted with 24 private patient rooms as well as two isolation rooms and it is located on the first floor of the hospital’s new main entrance that opened in the spring of 2017. The unit is connected to both the main hospital, and will be connected to the Emergency Department following the new construction of the Pediatric Observation Unit and renovation of the Pediatric Emergency Department.
