Belleville Man Charged In Connection With Newark Shooting

No one was injured during the shooting, which police believe may have stemmed from a quarrel.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police have arrested a Belleville man in connection with a shooting that took place on the 200-block of Verona Avenue in Newark last week, authorities say.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety statement issued on Wednesday, members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team (FAT) arrested Angel L. Tirado, 21, of Belleville, in connection with a shooting that occurred on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Officers arrived on the scene around 6:25 p.m. after receiving a report of shots fired. No one was injured during the shooting, which police believe may have stemmed from a quarrel that occurred just before the incident.

Detectives later identified Angel L. Tirado as a suspect in this shooting and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault. FAT detectives arrested Tirado on Wednesday without incident.

Authorities charged Tirado with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
