Belleville Man Fatally Shot While Working At Newark Grocery Store: PD

A 46-year-old Belleville resident was killed in a shooting that took place at a corner grocery store in Newark, prosecutors said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 46-year-old Belleville resident was killed in a shooting that took place at a corner grocery store in Newark on Sunday, prosecutors said.

Rabel Ramos-Gomez, 46, of Belleville, was fatally shot while working in his corner grocery store on the 200-block of South 10th Street in Newark, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Ramos-Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:15 p.m., authorities said.

No arrests have been made as of Monday, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the shooting.
