According to the Belleville Police Department, the resident told officers that he came home around 12:15 a.m. on Oct. 23 to find his bedroom window open, damage to the window screen and clothing in the area in disarray.
Soon afterwards, the victim found that a safe in his home had been pried open and multiple envelopes containing between $25,000 and $30,000 in cash and a winning, $500 lottery ticket were missing, police said.
