Belleville, Nutley Cops Arrest Suspected Vehicle Thieves

Someone stole a Cadillac Sedan Deville in Nutley, and a pair of men tried to steal a Yamaha motorcycle in Belleville, police said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Someone recently stole a Cadillac Sedan Deville in Nutley, and a pair of men tried to steal a Yamaha motorcycle in Belleville. All the involved suspects have been arrested, police said.

According to the Nutley Police Department, officers met with the victim of a car theft on East Centre Street on Aug. 31.

The victim said that when they got to work, their 1967 Cadillac Sedan Deville was missing from the front parking lot. After getting a description of the suspect, Nutley police worked with Bloomfield police detectives to identify Joshua Lang-Davilla, 33, of Newark, as the alleged thief.

Police arrested Lang-Davilla and charged him with motor vehicle theft. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility.

In a separate incident that took place on Essex Street in Belleville on Sept. 6, police caught two men as they tried to steal a motorcycle, authorities said.

According to the Belleville Police Department, the officers stopped the two men in the middle of the theft.

Several items believed to be proceeds from other burglaries was recovered, including a backpack with a hair cutting kit inside, a 12-pack of Ensure protein drink, a Pioneer Radio, a Honda stock radio, a Dual Model radio, a pioneer radio FXT, a gym bag from “Planet Fitness” with tools inside, a case with socket wrenches, two pairs of Dickie-brand work pants, a Lacoste shirt, a Tonix-brand shirt, a Faatastic hat, a pair of Air Force one sneakers and an EZ-Pass.

Both suspects were charged accordingly, Belleville police stated. No additional information was immediately available.
