Belleville Officials: ‘Report Illegal Apartments’ To Authorities
Belleville municipal officials are asking local residents to help them crack down on "illegal apartments" in the township.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — Belleville municipal officials are asking local residents to help them crack down on “illegal apartments” in the township.
In a recent municipal announcement, officials stated that “as per the Township of Belleville Zoning Ordinance 23-12.1, illegal apartments will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

“Any person, firm, or corporation violating any provisions of any part of this chapter or of any amendment thereof shall for each and every violation be subject to a fine of not more than $500 or imprisonment not to exceed 90 days or both. Each and every day that such violations continue shall be considered a separate and specific violation.”
Belleville residents who want to “confidentially report any suspected illegal apartments” can do so through the municipal website via the Contact the Township Manager’s Office form or call 973-450-3322.
