In Belleville: Affordable Housing Ordinance Passes

The Belleville law is a "developer's fee ordinance," town officials say.

Belleville, NJ – The Belleville Township Council unanimously approved an affordable housing ordinance during a special meeting and hearing on May 31.

During the meeting, Township Attorney Thomas Murphy said that the Belleville law was a “developer's fee ordinance” that would charge developers fees for residential and commercial real estate projects in the township, NorthJersey.com reported.

Third Ward Councilman Vincent Cozzarelli Jr. said that the plan was a draft, and that what the council had done by passing the ordinance was to set up a "fee collecting mechanism," NorthJersey.com reported.
