Belleville Planning Board Member Resigns: Officials
A member of the Belleville Planning Board and Historical Preservation Commission has resigned from both posts, town officials say.

BELLEVILLE, NJ — A member of the Belleville Planning Board and Historical Preservation Commission resigned from both posts earlier this month, town officials say.
Jacqeline Guaman tendered her resignation from the historical preservation board and as a class IV member of the planning board on Jan. 13, according to an email provided to Patch by Mayor Michael Melham.
A group of Belleville residents had previously claimed Guaman’s position as a class IV member on the planning board was “counter to state law” because she was also a municipal employee. However, Melham disputed the allegations, noting that a legal opinion from the planning board’s attorney previously declared Guaman was “rightfully appointed” under state and local laws and could remain on the board.
