Belleville Police Blotter: Oct. 9 to 15

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Belleville police blotter, a listing of selected incidents that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
10/9/2015
4:35 p.m. - Robbery - Franklin Street - Victim reported a male entered store two times earlier in day and had asked for cigarettes. Victim stated male returned a third time armed with a large knife and ordered victim to give him everything. Victim handed suspect $ 1,800 in cash. Suspect then stated “give me those too” pointing to lottery tickets which he also took. Suspect told victim to lie down and then fled from store East on Franklin Street. Suspect is described as a black male, slender to medium build, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, wearing a hooded sweatshirt with large gray lines.

10/10/2015
1:29 p.m. – MV Theft – Garden Avenue - Victim reported he parked his vehicle day before. Upon returning to the vehicle it was gone. Taken was a black 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was recovered the following day in Newark.

9:47 p.m. – Possession of CDS, Stolen Property – Holmes/Washington Avenue - Officers observed a gray SUV in the right lane of Washington Ave not moving with traffic. Officers pulled behind the vehicle and attempted to assist the passengers who sated they were out of gas. Driver then started the vehicle and drove south on Washington Ave. A computer check showed the license plate on mv did not match the description of the vehicle. Officers proceeded to pull over the vehicle and check the paperwork. Officers observed numerous items of drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the vehicle. The four suspects were taken into custody. The vehicle was reported stolen from Newark. Officers recovered 43 wax folds containing heroin, 9 glass bottles containing crack cocaine, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
- Liah King, age 27, from Newark, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle and CDS in motor vehicle.
- Ediberto Aquino, age 48, from Newark, was charged with possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Luis Velez, age 52, from Newark, was charged with possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to distribute, distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, receiving stolen property and failure to give CDS to law enforcement.
- Mario Henen, age 25, from Belleville, was charged with receiving stolen property, hindering arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
