Belleville, Nutley Police Make Statement On Social Media 'Threat'
Police: "There has been no credible threat made, and more specifically, there has been no threat made against any of our schools."
BELLEVILLE-NUTLEY, NJ -- Public schools in Belleville and Nutley will be seeing an increased police presence on Friday, but there is nothing linking the district to a nationwide social media "threat," officials said. >> Read More: TikTok School Gun Threat Has NJ Schools, Law Enforcement On Alert
The Belleville Police Department released the following message on Thursday:
"The Belleville police are aware of the [TikTok] video regarding a non-specific threat made against schools nationally. There has been no credible threat made and more specifically there has been no threat made against any of our schools. We are in contact with our school administrators on a daily basis. As a precaution there will be increased police presence around our schools."
The Nutley Police Department issued a similar message:

"Please be advised that the Nutley Police Department has received communication of a viral TIKTOK/Snapchat social media post indicating a potential school shooting on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021. There is NO credible information to suggest that there is any direct threat specific to the Nutley School System or any school located in New Jersey. Our department has increased patrol and investigative units in and around the Township to ensure the safety of its residents, as we continue to work closely with all Federal, State, County, and Local authorities on information relevant to any pertinent communications.
